LMS Stanier 4-6-0 Jubilee Class - 45684 "Jutland" 346 views28/07/1964 - LMS Stanier Jubilee 45684 "Jutland" passes under Harwood Rd Bridge at Rishton - note that the nameplate has already been removed and "Ringo" written - sign of the times with the Beatles being the top band of the time.
Borrowed from Derby sheds, It had worked a Bloxwich to Blackpool and then failed. Once repaired it was borrowed to work to Colne after which Rose Grove use it on this special from Colne to Lakeside on the 26th and here from Colne to Morecambe on the 28th.
The engine was withdrawn from service 2 months later and scrapped.

Just after this picture was taken , Wells braked suddenly to a halt, apparently a door handle problem on the carriage stock was the problem. This gave me enough time to get to Ewood Bridge again for my final picture on the 2nd steam service of the day.

Hunslet rebuilt Austerity 0-6-0 2890 tender engine.337 viewsSaturday 14/10/2017 - "Flying Scotsman" to the rescue!! - Hunslet
Austerity 2890 heads to Ramsbottom to collect the coaching stock from 34092 "City of Wells" which had failed.

A shuttle service had to be cancelled to allow this rescue and allow the rest of the day to run on time to the timetable.

2890 refers to the build number by the Hunslet locomotive manufacturer and has been rebuilt by the Ribble Steam Railway into this handsome tender engine.
